Our Services

Asbestos Testing

Asbestos sampling or testing is fast, efficient, accurate and completely safe when it is done by someone that is qualified and experienced.

  • Asbestos Sampling

Trace Asbestos provides asbestos testing services, using only BOHS accredited surveyors. Using qualified personnel ensures you get a valid asbestos test (without cross contamination) that represents the materials sampled and enforces protocols after a test is taken, to minimise the risk of further contamination.

    • We charge $250+gst for the first sample on site and $100+gst for each additional sample on site.

Sampling costs include callout, travel to site (Wellington), time on site, collection of sample/s, encapsulation of sample sites, clean up and removal of waste, laboratory analysis certificate and written report.

  • IANZ Accredited Laboratory Analysis
As per Worksafe NZ directives – our asbestos samples are always analysed by independent IANZ Accredited Laboratories.

Asbestos Management Surveys

An Asbestos Management Survey is the standard asbestos survey recommended for any building and workplace in New Zealand. It forms an important step to producing a functioning Asbestos Management Plan that actively monitors the materials and outlays procedures in dealing with its risks. It’s purpose is to locate the presence and extent of any suspected Asbestos Containing Materials in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy and maintenance. We can then assess the condition of these materials and can provide expert asbestos surveying solutions across the country.

Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys

Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys locate and describe Asbestos Containing Materials in areas where intrusive maintenance, repair, refurbishment or demolition work is set to take place. This survey requires access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach. Undertaking Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys prior to any renovation or demolition works is a strict regulatory requirement and a duty of any PCBUs with management or control of a workplace.

Don’t risk it…. put asbestos first on your project list.

Other Asbestos Surveys

While the above listed Asbestos Refurbishment & Demolition Surveys, and Management surveys are more common, we have developed some other Asbestos Survey solutions that may better suit your needs.

Not every client or site fits the box and for this we have Visual Survey options and re-inspection surveys. These are great for annual check-ups and audits, maybe a second opinion for your site, and an excellent survey for due diligence for pre purchase or sale.

Asbestos Management

Asbestos Management falls into two main categories.

  • Managing a workplace or site with Asbestos.

A worksite with a strong and functional Asbestos Management Plan which actively monitors the materials and outlays procedures in dealing with its risks is made simple with Trace Asbestos.

Whether you like paper or cloud based systems, every survey can, and should, be backed up with a site specific Asbestos Management Plan. This is then controlled and updated by you, or you could have someone else manage that process on your behalf. Trace Asbestos has excellent online client management systems to control staff and contractor access to your asbestos information.

  • Removing Asbestos.

Asbestos Removal Projects can be time-consuming, expensive and high-liability exercises to undertake. Like any project, the specification, procurement and management of the works should be undertaken, or at least coordinated, by an experienced, qualified Asbestos Consultant.

We don't remove asbestos, this must be done by a WorkSafe approved Licensed Asbestos Removalist.

With Trace Asbestos assisting you with the Asbestos Removal Management and tender process, we ensure both regulatory and client procurement process compliance. Our active approach to the tender process includes tender administration, management of contractor visits, technical evaluation of the tender returns, as well as fact-based, independent recommendations for asbestos removal contractor appointments.

We also have a selection of recommended and approved asbestos removal contractors who are regularly assessed and audited. This gives our clients the reassurance of removal quality, competitive pricing and mitigates the risk of going to the market and starting projects with any uncertainty.

Air Monitoring and Removal Clearance

We don't remove asbestos, but we do conduct asbestos removal clearance inspections following asbestos removal.

An asbestos assessor provides a fresh pair of eyes, using an internationally recognised procedure to ensure and validate that an area where asbestos has been removed is safe for reoccupation.

When conducting asbestos removal clearances our aim is to provide a fair and unbiased approach to help our clients complete the job without compromising our duties.

We are licenced asbestos assessors and qualified in the British Occupational Hygiene Society’s proficiency certificate IP404 for Air Monitoring, Clearance Inspections and Reoccupation Following Removal of Asbestos.

Asbestos assessor licences are issued by Worksafe NZ. An individual must be a suitably qualified and experienced practitioner and have relevant experience conducting asbestos clearances. They must have a strong understanding of asbestos materials, their nature when disturbed, and how they affect the surfaces around them.

When asbestos is being removed, whether it is an A Class friable material or B Class non-friable a clearance inspection must be carried out by a licensed asbestos assessor. An asbestos assessor must be separate from the company removing the asbestos to ensure impartiality.
